Email: How do I link an email address from my web site?

Linking to my email address from my website

A link from your web page to your email address is not the same thing as an email service.

  • The link from your site will allow your visitors to send you mail by clicking on the link.
  • An email service allows you to set up and use an email address based on your domain name.

Step by step instructions

In your HTML page, you will need a link with the text mailto: infront of your address. It will look something like this:

<a href = "mailto:me@mydomain.com">me@mydomain.com</a>

In your web page, the text that is between the tags defining your email link will not be displayed, and the me@mydomain.com will be displayed as a link.

When your visitor clicks on this link, it will automatically open the mail program on his system.
