R4L Mail Services & fighting SPAMAll R4L mail serivices now include highly effective spam fighting measures to help protect you from receiving SPAM. Introduced in March 2005, our spam measures have reduced the spam so that it's now quite rare for our customers to receive spam. Initial Mail DelaysWhen you receive email from someone that has not sent you email previously (IP address and email address of the sender is new for your email address), our spam measures can cause a delay in receiving this first message. Our mail server will ask that the sending server retry this first email, and this will normally cause an initial delay of an hour or less. Once we have established the connection between your email address and this sender's address, further email delivery is immediate. Blocking Email From Known SpammersBefore accepting email, we do verify the IP address of the sending email server against a list of known spammers and open mail relays. If the IP address of the mail server is found to be on this blacklist, the email will be bounced. If you are not receiving email from someone that you think you should be, it's likely that the mail server they're sending from is on the spam blacklist. If that is the case, they should take measures to investigate why their IP is on the blacklist and get it removed. Thisis something the administrator for the sending email system would need to do.
